It is now the 22nd January 2010 and I have just registered this year's event with Help for Heroes, the charity that supports wounded members of the Armed Forces returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with life changing injuries. This year I will be walking 63 miles, one mile for each year of my age, so one more mile than I did last year - hence the title Judy's Extra Mile!!!
I started training as I did last year in December 2009 and then after a short break for Christmas - well you didn't really think I would be in the gym then did you - I restarted again at the beginning of January.
On the first morning it snowed - yes inches of the stuff so it was back to the gym and the pool until the ice and snow melted and it was safe to hit the roads again. I have now completed the first week of walking in 2010 and it wasn't as bad a I had expected. No injuries so far so let's hope it stays that way.
